the 2nd Cradley Brownies
The 2nd Cradley Brownie Pack has been going for 30 years. It is attended weekly
on Mondays, by 24 Brownie Guides and facilitated by 3 Warranted Guiders.
It is the aim of 2nd Cradley Brownies to be helpful, friendly and caring towards
others. The Brownies are set to an 8-point programme where they develop and
learn different skills. They are encouraged to achieve many badges such as first
aid, crime prevention, and road safety.
2nd Cradley Brownies joins with other brownie packs twice a year in marches for
Remembrance Day and World Thinking Day.
Once a year the Brownies go on pack holiday to Blackmore, near the Malvern
Hills. The event is full of fun and the Brownies participate in crafts and
games, as well as helping out with chores around the pack-house.
Other adventure outings are organised throughout the year. The keyword for 2nd
Cradley is Fun.
What do Brownies do?
Brownies have fun! They take part in indoor and outdoor activities
that
challenge
them to do their best. Their meetings are action-packed and full of challenges,
games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested themselves.
Everything a Brownie does is an adventure - it's a world of excitement, new
interests and friends.
Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each
girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel
that she belongs to something special.
Brownies meet regularly, usually once a week during school terms. There are
often opportunities for Brownies to take part in special activities and events
throughout the year. Many Brownie Packs go away on holiday, to camp or on an
overnight sleepover.
Who can be a Brownie?
Brownies are usually aged between seven and ten, although some
Brownies stay in the unit until they are a little bit older. Any girl over the
age of seven can become a Brownie as long as she is able to understand, and
wants to make, the Brownie Guide Promise.
our Annual
Report to the church for 2006/7:
We have had a good
year. We went on the joint pack holidays with 1st Lutley Brownies to Blackmore,
near Malvern. These were a great success and the Brownies all made new friends.
This will be done again this year.
We also went on joint trips to Chester Zoo, Walsall Illuminations and a
pantomime. We went on a district outing to Bewdley Safari Park and had a night
out at the division disco. These were enjoyed by all.
We took many badges as a pack – crime prevention, first aid and many more. Many
crafts were also made.
